Spiritual Direction Philosophy
Spiritual direction is a place to pay attention: to the questions that keep returning, to the movements of your inner life, to the places where meaning seems to be emerging, and sometimes to the places where the path ahead is not yet clear.
My approach is contemplative, relational, and deeply pluralistic. I work with people across religious traditions and with people who do not identify as religious at all. You do not need to believe in God—or understand spirituality in any particular way—to enter spiritual direction. What matters is a willingness to listen more closely to your own life.
In our work together, I offer questions, reflection, silence, and practices that can help you notice what is happening beneath the surface. Depending on your interests, our sessions may also draw upon meditation, dream work, focusing, labyrinth practice, nature and eco-spirituality, or other contemplative practices.
I am particularly interested in accompanying people through periods of spiritual questioning, vocational discernment, grief and transition, changes in religious identity, and the search for a spiritual life that feels authentic rather than inherited. My practice welcomes LGBTQIA+ people, people with disabilities and chronic illness, clergy and religious professionals, spiritual seekers, skeptics, Humanists, Pagans, and people whose spiritual lives do not fit neatly into conventional categories.
My own formation has crossed Christian, Buddhist, Humanist, Shinto, Pagan, Earth-Centered, and interspiritual traditions. That history has left me less interested in helping someone arrive at a particular spiritual answer than in helping them listen carefully enough to discover what is true and life-giving for them.
