Spiritual Direction Philosophy

Ellen helps those who desire to become more intentional about their spiritual life and practice. Using multi-dimensional approaches the client deepens heart attunement and awareness of their unique needs along the spiritual path. Together, she and her clients create sacred space to engage in the personal search for life’s deepest meaning.

Ellen is a devotional mystic whose personal practice includes a deep reverence and affinity for the teachings of Jesus and the Marys. She is also deeply grounded in Celtic spirituality and both Native American and Celtic Shamanism. She has studied with John and Caitlin Matthews in the US and England and apprenticed for 2.5 years with Brazilian Shaman Bernardo Peixoto. With these practices she can work with interested clients in the Otherworldly realms. She has led spiritual pilgrimages to Ireland focusing on neolithic and early Celtic spirituality.

Ellen and her husband lived in the wilderness of Vermont where communion with the natural world nourished a rich intimacy that formed the bedrock of her spiritual life. She and her husband led workshops and vision quests on their land, helping others to develop a spiritual relationship with nature.

In addition to spiritual guidance, Ellen has been a psychotherapist for 45 years. She is comfortable with deep emotions and able to help with relational issues as they emerge in spiritual guidance. In addition to her professional trainings, Ellen has been tempered by the fires of grief in her personal life, making her especially attuned to the sufferings of grief in others.

Ellen is ordained in the Church of Spiritual Sciences. She is familiar with exploration into the realms beyond the passage of death. She also has 50 years experience in work with past life hypnosis.

Ellen is also the author of Spiritual Sampler; Illuminating Inner Wisdom, and a poet and artist. You can find her weekly Sacred Musings published on Substack.

Ellen served on faculty at the Rowe Center’s Spiritual Guidance Program from 2015-2020.

By enriching one’s spiritual life one becomes more effective and deeply happy. In this way the Holy imbues daily life and one’s path becomes truly sacred.
