Spiritual Direction Philosophy
My approach to spiritual direction is rooted in Unitarian Universalism, which means that I am comfortable with the many ways UUs seek to understand that which is of ultimate importance to us. Raised in a biblical Christian tradition, I can easily make space for those who are drawn to that path. I also engage in Buddhist-leaning practices, and have been a practitioner of Earth-centered spirituality for decades. Humanistic religious naturalism calls to me – and I suppose my measured approach to all of these paths is guided by a certain agnosticism.
I have been a UU minister since 2012, learning and growing with the people it has been my privilege to serve. I am a lifelong learner and encourage curiosity and wonder in those that I companion. In addition to certification in spiritual direction, I am also certified in spiritual trauma and Jungian-informed dream work.
I am committed to creating a space that invites all seekers, those who have experienced trauma and those who have been spared that, to dive deep and access the truth that resides in each soul – that all are worthy of love. A beloved mentor once said that UU is the adventure of a lifetime – and I find that to be true of spiritual direction and companionship, as well.
